About Trek'n'Trails

Why Trek'n'Trails exists and what guides our decisions

What's Trek'n'Trails

Launched in May 2025, Trek'n'Trails is a growing database of multi-day hiking routes with a focus on practical planning information. It started as a way to centralize scattered trek data – distances, elevation profiles, logistics – into structured, searchable formats. The goal is simple: aggregate useful information that's typically spread across guidebooks, blogs, forums and official sources and present it in a consistent, reliable way.

It's not a perfect, finished system. Some details are verified, some are based on field notes and some are still being refined as the project develops. But everything here is added with care and with the intention to make planning easier for people who love being out there.

Why It Exists

Most trek information online is scattered across guidebooks, blogs and forums or overly polished to please algorithms rather than serve practical needs. Basic data like accurate distances, current logistics, and seasonal conditions get buried under narrative fluff or outdated in static guidebooks.

Trek'n'Trails tries to do the opposite – build something steady, practical and down-to-earth. The goal is to gather structured, factual information that actually helps with planning. No drama, no exaggeration.

You won't find endless photo galleries here. There are plenty of other places for that. Instead, the focus is on what's harder to find elsewhere: reliable data, planning tools, downloadable GPX tracks, and a clear overview of what each trek actually involves.

The idea is to keep improving it over time, refining data accuracy and expanding coverage naturally as resources allow.

What You'll Find Here

  • Structured trek data: distances, elevation profiles, stage breakdowns
  • Clear trek descriptions focused on practical planning
  • Basic logistics information
  • GPS tracks and waypoints for navigation
  • Free tools for planning
  • Both popular routes and lesser-known alternatives
  • Information that's gradually being expanded and verified

The approach is open and simple. If something still needs work, you'll know.

What You Won't Find

  • Influencer-style content or staged photos
  • Romantic travel clichés
  • Generic "bucket list" articles
  • Affiliate-driven recommendations
  • Overconfident claims about things that aren't verified

We'll leave the storytelling to the trail itself.

How the Project is Built

Trek'n'Trails is shaped by a few simple ideas:

Keep it honest Say what's known and what's still a work in progress
Keep it simple Clear structure over fancy wording
Stay grounded Nature and terrain don't need decoration
Respect the reader's time No clutter, no noise

Information is gathered from multiple sources: official trail organizations, guidebooks, mapping data, field reports and community updates. Some details come from direct observation, others from aggregated sources. Ideally, everything would be clearly marked as verified or needing updates. That system isn't fully in place yet, so it's wise to verify critical details independently.

What's Coming

As the project grows, more treks will be added, notes will get refined and new tools will appear – seasonal guides, better logistics and a clearer structure for planning. It's a long-term build, not a rush for content.
