Australia & Oceania

Map of Australia & Oceania

A continent of coastal wilderness, volcanic peaks, tropical forests and remote island trails

Australia & Oceania feels like a scattered world – a collection of islands, ranges and coastlines, each with its own rhythm. You can hike through ancient rainforest in the morning, stand on a volcanic plateau at noon and fall asleep on a beach where the only sound is surf and wind.

Australia itself is huge and empty in the best way. Desert tracks cut through red rock, eucalyptus forests hold pockets of deep silence and coastal trails hug cliffs that fall straight into turquoise water. The Outback gives you solitude on a scale that’s hard to describe – endless horizons and a night sky that feels like it’s swallowing the world.

New Zealand is another universe entirely. The Southern Alps pack glaciers, fiords and razor-sharp ridgelines into a tight space. Well-built Great Walks lead through forests, alpine passes and valley floors carved by ancient ice – but step just outside the classic routes and you find wild terrain where the weather changes in seconds.

The Pacific islands add yet another layer. Jungle-covered volcanoes, crater lakes, coastal ridges and trails that climb from coral reefs straight into cloud forest. Everything smells alive: flowers, rain, saltwater, warm soil. Even short hikes feel immersive.

This region rewards flexibility. Weather can be brutal, distances deceptive and logistics quirky – but waiting on a ridge for clouds to break or watching a sunrise over an empty coastline makes it all worth it. Oceania doesn’t shout. It just quietly shows you places you’ll never forget.
