Mardi Himal trek, situated in the east of Annapurna Base camp trek, is one of the most popular trekking destinations in Nepal. Hence, the trek is very suitable for novice trekkers, as it is a shorter trek with relatively low elevation. The immersive Himalayan vista offered by the Mardi Himal trek is also a reason for the growing popularity of this trek in recent years.
Main attractions of Mardi Himal Trek: trekking in Nepal
The majestic view of different snow-capped mountains, steamy jungles, glaring rivers, thriving wildlife, and dramatic landscapes are some of the main attractions of the trek. Apart from that, the famous Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek sandwich the Mardi Himal Trekking route. Likewise, Mardi Himal Base Camp is situated right under the glorious Machhapuchhre Mountain. Above all, local peoples are very friendly and eager to help you in any situation with a pleasing smile on their faces, which is also quite common while trekking in Nepal.
Mountains seen from the region
The trek offers a confronting view of mighty Annapurna Range. Similarly, trekkers also get to enjoy the stunning view of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Annapurna South, Mardi Himal, Mt. Machhapuchhre, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Hiunchuli, all ranging between 6500 to 8000 meters.

Accommodation during Mardi Himal trek
During the trek, trekkers will have plenty of options to choose between Hotel, teahouses and home-stays. Likewise, this tea house trek in Nepal followed by various home stays and guesthouses along the route offers a perfect amalgam to trekkers who want to explore new culture and unique traditions.
Mardi Himal trekking route
The trek starts from a short flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Instead, you can also take a 5-hour bus drive to Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara, trekkers can catch a bus to Phedi. There are two different routes to pursue this trek. The difficult trail continues through steep and rocky ascend in a winding, rugged path. Moving forward, trekkers march from Hyangja to Siding and finally to the High camp. This route is quite dangerous. Thus, you need technical mountain climbing experience to pursue the trail.
On the other hand, the easy route offers a shorter trek. Trekkers can ascend from Phedi to Pothana. The trek continues through Forest camp, low camp, and finally High camp. The trek is very easy, and we highly recommend you to take this route instead.

Required Permits for Mardi Himal Trek
You will need to acquire the TIMS and ACAP permit to begin the Mardi Himal Trek. The combined cost of these permits are around $40 all together.
Chances of altitude sickness during the trek
This is a relatively short and easy trek. However, it is quite difficult to say whether a person can suffer from high-altitude sickness or not. Again, it depends on multitude of factors. This trek does not require high level of fitness. Nevertheless, moderate level of fitness is necessary. This multi-day trek leads your path through dense forests, dramatic terrains, and beautiful isolated villages. Due to this reason, it is very important to do some basic preparation before the trek.
