This 10-15 days trek follows the same route as Everest base camp trek in Nepal upto the lively village of Namche Bazar. From Namche Bazar trekkers head to Phorse, Machhermo and finally Gokyo valley. Your tour guide generally lets you spend a day at the valley to build acclimatization from where you will head to summit of Gokyo Ri next morning.

Similar to most other treks in Nepal, trekking season generally starts at Spring i.e. March through May and ends at Autumn i.e. September through November.
Also, you will need to obtain a Sagarmatha National Park trekking permit and TIMS card to set up for this trek. The Pemits will cost around $40 both combined.
